A SANS 10400-XA assessment is a requirement for any new-build or renovation project where building plans need to be submitted. The results of the assessment must be submitted to the local council for approval before construction can begin.

Traditionally, energy usage and peak demand were hand-calculated by architects. However, the intricacy of modern building designs and the properties of new materials mean that this approach is no longer feasible for large, complex buildings that employ advanced materials.

HOW IT WORKS

Each SANS 10400-XA assessment consists of two simulations: a “reference building”, and the actual building. In each case, the actual building model must out-perform the reference building model. The actual building must also meet the applicable SANS standards for a building of its type, size, and climatic zone within South Africa.

 

We then generate a comprehensive SANS 10400-XA Assessment report for submission to the relevant local council pursuant to obtaining building rights.
